Cape Fear Bonsai Society
The Cape Fear Bonsai Society is a group of men and women who meet monthly to study and practice the art of Bonsai.
The club has an active program of training through workshops, guest speakers and a sharing of collective Bonsai expertise. Membership is open to both the novice and the more experienced practitioner of Bonsai.
You are invited to come on by, join in, and get some dirt under your fingernails!

Feb. 19, 2010: 7:00-9:00 PM, Friday. Arthur Joura, curator of the NC Bonsai Collection at The NC State
Arboretum, Asheville, NC, will style and pot Stewartia as a Bonsai specimen. The tree will be raffled at
the end of the evening. The demonstration is free and open to the public.
Feb. 20, 2010: 9:00-11:00 AM, Saturday. Club workshop. Arthur Joura will conduct a workshop in which
club members will style and pot a Stewartia as a Bonsai specimen. The workshop is by reservation and
for club members only.
Mar. 2, 2010: 7:00-9:00 PM, Tuesday. Monthly meeting. Presentation topic: Bonsai development
process - Peter Adams 5-year-plan. Bonsai basics: 5 ways to secure guy wires.
Mar. 13, 2010: 9:00-11:00, Saturday. Club workshop with in-house instruction. Constructing and planting
a Penjing or Chinese rock planting. Blaine's house. The workshop is by reservation and for club
members only.
Mar. 20, 2010: 9:00-11:00, Saturday. Club workshop with in-house instruction. Repotting shimpaku
juniper Phoenix graft specimens. Eddie's house. The workshop is by reservation and for club
members only.
Apr. 6, 2010: 7:00-9:00 PM, Tuesday. Monthly meeting. Presentation topic: What is a Shohin Bonsai
specimen? Bonsai basics: All about pots.
Apr. 9, 2010: 7:00-9:00 PM, Friday. Harold Johnson, of the Triangle Bonsai Society, will style and
pot an ilex crenata as a Shohin Bonsai specimen. The tree will be raffled at the end of the evening.
